Elegant Red Rose

This was my first piece experimenting with lighter backgrounds after working extensively with black. The red rose grew in our front yard — despite a few nibbling bugs along the way! I fell in love with its magenta-red hue and wanted to create a still life with it. After many attempts and photos, the perfect composition revealed itself: the stem naturally fell into place, forming a beautiful line and angle that guided the painting.
